ACR EPIRB Models: RLB-27, RLB-28, RLB-32, RLB-33, RLB-35

  1. Remove the 4 screws holding the 2 halves of the unit together
  2. Separate top and bottom
  3. Unplug batter connector from where it plugs in to the top half circuit board
  4. Remove battery pack
  5. Install new pack and plug connector back in
  6. Clean all joining surfaces of dirt, sand, etc.
  7. Apply silicone grease to the rubber seal
  8. Join the top and bottom, being careful to avoid damaging the seal
  9. Install the 4 screws
  10. Perform a Self-Test on the unit

ACR EPIRB Models: RLB-36, RLB-37, RLB-38

  1. Remove the 4 screws holding the 2 halves of the unit together
  2. Separate top and bottom
  3. Remove 2 screws holding circuit board in bottom half
  4. Remove battery packs by pulling up the battery wires
  5. Disconnect packs from circuit board
  6. Install new packs leaving plug J4 empty on circuit board
  7. Clean all joining surfaces of dirt, sand, etc.
  8. Apply silicone grease to the rubber seal
  9. Join the top and bottom, being careful to avoid damaging the seal
  10. Install the 4 screws
  11. Perform a Self-Test on the unit

ACR PLB Models: PLB-200, PLB-201, PLB-350

  1. Remove the 4 screws holding the 2 halves of the unit together
  2. Separate top and bottom
  3. Unplug batter connectors
  4. Remove battery packs
  5. Install new packs and plug connectors back in
  6. Clean all joining surfaces of dirt, sand, etc.
  7. Apply silicone grease to the rubber seal
  8. Join the top and bottom, being careful to avoid damaging the seal
  9. Install the 4 screws
  10. Perform a Self-Test on the unit

ACR PLB Models: PLB-375

  1. Remove the 2 screws holding the 2 halves of the unit together
  2. Separate top and bottom
  3. Unplug batter connector
  4. Remove battery pack
  5. Install new pack and plug connector back in
  6. Clean all joining surfaces of dirt, sand, etc.
  7. Apply silicone grease to the rubber seal
  8. Join the top and bottom, being careful to avoid damaging the seal or wires
  9. Install the 2 screws
  10. Perform a Self-Test on the unit

McMurdo PLB Models: 200, 210

  1. Flip up top cover
  2. Unscrew the single screw holding on the top cover, and remove cover
  3. Deploy the antenna
  4. Remove the 2 screws and remove top portion of beacon
  5. Pull the internal circuit board and battery packs out of the bottom
  6. Unplug the battery pack connectors
  7. Remove battery packs
  8. Install new pack by sliding up from the bottom with the foil/cardboard connector between the 2 packs
  9. Plug connectors back in
  10. Slide the circuit board with battery packs back into the bottom half of the beacon, being sure to place the board in the slots
  11. Push down all the way – it may be tight!
  12. Replace the top of the beacon and tighten the 2 screws
  13. Curl the antenna
  14. Replace the plastic cover
  15. Tighten single screw holding cover on – careful to avoid breaking the break-away portion of the cover (if it breaks, it can be held with a dab of hot glue)
  16. Perform a Self-Test on the unit

Ocean Signal RescueME MOB1

  1. Remove 2 screws under top portion of beacon
  2. Separate top and bottom
  3. Tear or cut tape attached to battery
  4. If necessary, the circuit board assembly can be pulled a small amount out of the top half without damage
  5. Unplug battery connector
  6. Install new pack
  7. Put halves back together
  8. Install the 2 screws
  9. Perform a Self-Test on the unit
